Instructions:
I chose to use torn fabric for my door hanger, because I love the rustic frayed edges. Of course, some festive ribbon would also work perfectly well, your choice!

Any woven fabric will tear in a straight line. I made snips about 2 inches apart on my fabric, and the just tore it into strips that were about 18 inches long.

I did have to pick off a few extra treads, but the whole process only took a few minutes. If you want to save time, it’s easy to use some ribbon as well!

At one end of my fabric strips, I cut a three inch slot. Then I tied each side into a knot. This creates a little “bow” as the bottom of each strip of fabric.

I placed a nickel sized puddle of glue onto the bottom of the pine cone, then just held the knot bow into the bottom until it was mostly cooled.

Once all the fabric strips and pinecones had been glued together and the glue was completely cooled, I arranged the pinecones so they were all hanging at different levels.

I bound the top of the bunch with some twine to hold it firmly in place, then I covered up the twine with another strip of fabric. I gave all the tops a little trim up so they look nice and even.

Hey, that’s all there is to it! It’s turned out so nice and I love the way it as some crackly sound effects every time we open the front door of the Cottage.

Doesn’t it look charming on my red door? This one was so easy, I think it would be the perfect craft to make for our church craft sale next year.
