Instagram post 2190200827275231963_4007358310 A moment in the spotlight for my Thanksgiving Duck. It's my favorite poultry, so why not have it in our biggest feast of the year? But it's so lovely, I just may have to make it again for a Christmas Eve Feast...what do you think?

Instagram post 2186478649149999314_4007358310 Sweetest little basket of natural materials for our Christmas decorations! We're taking a break from homeschool for the rest of the week to eat, drink and be merry. And also do a last ditch effort to clean up the homestead before the snow flies. Things are looking pretty good this year (we got the pig corral done, yay!) but it's a really nice feeling to have all the creatures and the garden just snugged in before the first serious snowfall. Full day, wish me luck!
Instagram post 2185784398388001222_4007358310 This will go perfectly with my roasted duck! (I've roasted a duck on Thanksgiving for the last three years instead of a turkey.) My Sage & Onion no knead bread has all the flavors of the season with only a few minutes of work. Just try it, it's 10 times easier than stuffing!
In other news, we got to meet our newest cousin this week. Baby Philip has been quite a hit, delighting us with his baby gurgles and big blue eyes. He lives across a big ocean so we'll soak him up as long as he's here!
Instagram post 2185679731872866319_4007358310 Last look at the Autumn styling for the mantle before Christmas descends up on it. Thanksgiving will be low key. I'll roast my usual duck instead of turkey, with a few comfy sides and some mulled wine, and maybe a nap. Then, I'm hoping to get into the Christmas Crafts this weekend! I have rustic and handmade decorations in mind this year, less glitter and more nature inspired. I could craft all day if I had the time, but this year I'm limiting it to about a dozen new craft ideas that I'll share on the blog, all inexpensive with things we may already have. Goodbye beautiful books and vintage print, and hello forest winter wonderland! #cottagedecor #vintagedecor #thrifteddecor
Instagram post 2181346580691296489_4007358310 You'd think all I ever feed my family is bread and desserts if you just look at this feed. I promise, we mostly eat meat and veggies, but it's the prettiest things I always want to take photos of. Remember those gorgeous red pears from a few weeks back? They made the most delicious galette (recipe to follow), and I think I just might swap out the usual Thanksgiving apple pie for another one of these rustic masterpieces, what do you think? #fallbaking #galette #homebaker #homemadeisbest #scratchmade
